


Sara grew up in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. She attended university for Fine Art (Studio plus Art History) later switching to achieve a B.Sc in Biology/Physical Anthropology, and Web Development Diploma, plus a Masters certificate in project management.
Sara’s current focus is utilizing acrylics in painting and linograph printing. She also creates chainmaille decor, jewellery and costumes. She draws inspiration from nature, fantasy and sci-fi. She finds that expressionism is the tradition that resonates most with her style.
Sara’s work can be found at group exhibits, She has been part of shows at the Peterborough Arts Umbrella gallery, the Peterborough Art Gallery, and at the Kawartha Artists Gallery and Studio.
Previously Sara worked in social support as a social support councillor for dual diagnosis persons in an ASL deaf culture environment, and a computer skills trainer. Her second career involved government and private sector tech as a QA software tester on development teams.
Sara has volunteered at non-profits, including; Peterborough Arts Umbrella (art gallery staff and office admin), Peterborough chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association Of Ontario: ‘The Learning to Learn Program’ and the ‘Peer tutoring program’, Merrickville Cooperative Playgroup (co-coordinator), North Grenville Pride founding member and Chair of the board 2022-2024. They are currently part of the Secretariat for the North Grenville Community Forum, and are thrilled to be a part of the North Grenville Arts Guild Board as Secretary.
Sara has a special interest in building community in the face of adversity and connecting people at risk and in need, to resources and support. She thinks that art is a necessary resource for everyone, and that it should not only exist in the realm of luxury. “art is not a luxury, art is essential”
